The Greek word “eremos” literally means desert, lonely place, or wilderness. It conveys a place apart from crowds, noise, and distraction—a setting of solitude and quiet. In the New Testament, when Jesus says, “Come away with me” (for example in Mark 6:31, Matthew 14:23, or Luke 5:16), He is inviting His followers into an eremos of rest and intimacy with Him.

The connection is rich:

  • Physical solitude: Jesus often withdrew to a literal desert or secluded place. “Eremos” highlights the importance of stepping away from the chaos of life.

  • Spiritual retreat: Beyond physical space, “eremos” represents a posture of the heart—a willingness to be alone with God, undistracted, and receptive.

  • Rest and renewal: In inviting His disciples, Jesus offers the eremos as a place to rest, reflect, pray, and reconnect with God’s purpose.

So, when Jesus says “Come away with me”, He’s essentially saying: “Let’s enter the eremos together—leave the noise, be still, and experience My presence.” It’s an invitation to pause, restore, and align your soul with His.

The Eremos Van (“EV”) carries us to those places. It’s discreetly badged, so if you see it, pray for us as we travel on the Kingdom mission!
